Logos for Companies–5 Steps to Creating a Serious Brand that Attracts Attention

Logos for companies communicate the Unique Selling Proposition of a business. A logo is more than an image, it is the representation of the company’s brand. A logo image is what helps distinguish a business from another, IF it’s designed effectively.

An ineffective logo will leave a company flat. It will not stand above the crowd. It will not be recognized and get any exposure.

This spells disaster for a business, especially a small business!

How can you create a serious brand that attracts attention?

Here are five steps that will ensure you get the exposure you need to skyrocket your profits!

1) Thoroughly analyze your business mission, goals, passions, skill sets, strengths, weaknesses, etc. The more you know about what makes you and your business unique, the better brand you will make.

2) Who is your target market? The more details you have on this, the better. What is the pain your market experiences? What are they afraid of? What solutions are they looking for?

3) Analyze your current branding materials. This includes everything. Your signage if you are a brick and mortar store, your website, business cards, blogs, email messages, newsletters, brochures. Look at these as objectively as you can and ask yourself these questions: a) Is there a consistent look to them or does your branding on all these materials look different? This can lead to confusion for your target market! b) Is your brand/logo appealing to your specific target market? Will it connect with them? If you make a modern, hip-looking brand, for instance, and your audience is affluent seniors, you will not connect with this audience. In fact, you will most likely turn them off. And vice versa!

4) Have the logo professionally designed. Do not use cookie cutter logos! Why? These logos are available to a wide market and not made specifically for your business. It will not be communicating your Unique Selling Proposition, you will not attract your audience, and your business will plummet. If you don’t take your business seriously, a prospect will not take you seriously. Your brand is your most valuable asset. Invest wisely!

5) Make sure your brand is professionally produced on marketing materials, websites, and collateral. It is a shame to have a wonderful logo and then produce a business card that is subpar. When a prospect visits your website and the logo is all jagged and fuzzy, they unconsciously feel distrustful of your business. It’s really a big turn off!

If you can’t hire it out to a professional design contractor because of lack of funds, learn how to do it yourself. Or at least learn about the process so you can outsource the logo design to any Internet freelance company.

Pay attention to these steps and you will have a logo that will attract attention and that means your profits will skyrocket!

What the Death of the Twinkie Means to Your Brand!

I just found out to my shock that Hostess is filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy!

Is this the death of the Twinkie as we know it?

And why should you care, besides missing these delightful sugar-laden treats?

As a huge fan of Ding Dongs (don’t make jokes!) I would be sad to see Hostess go, but in reading about it I found a very important point that we must remember as business owners:

When you reduce the quality of your product, your company suffers. Period.

I saw an interesting conjecture that Hostess altered the recipe, making the cakes less tasty and more expensive. They could not, as I understand, keep up with market changes, especially the health consciousness that exists today.

Their brand suffered as a result.

My question to you is, how are you delivering your product? Is it surpassing customer expectations? I love the saying, “under promise and under deliver.” Are you consistent with the quality of your product?

If you answer no to these questions, your brand is in danger of being damaged.

The Hostess company and the possible loss of the venerable Twinkie is a lesson to all of us to protect our brands by providing excellent products, period!

Happy New Year– Make Mission Statements for Your New Business Year and Reach for Your Dreams!

Knowing my why and making big goals has propelled me to unbelievable heights in the last few years in my business.

As a result, I have never felt so crystal clear on God’s callings on my life and business.

How do I do this?

I make a yearly mission statement!

Corporations are very familiar with this method of planning. As a matter of fact, when I worked for a Christian non-profit, communicating mission and vision statements was extremely central to what I did as a graphic designer.

Through this experience, I realized that mission statements are not just for corporations! They are for small business owners and yes, even homeschooling entrepreneurs like myself!

How did I do this?

I just took a little time one morning, perhaps a half-hour, and spent some focused time in prayer. I thumbed through my favorite book of the Bible, the Psalms, until I stumbled upon Psalm 84.

Psalm 84:5-7 has epitomized my life lately. I’ve walked a lot of lonesome valleys and while I’ve come across a few cool springs, I long for deep pools brimming with rain.

So that is the word picture I wanted of my year and of my business, a pool brimming with rain. With much prayer, I chose that as my mission. And my vision is coming true, including many unexpected events, like radio podcasts out of the blue and learning new skills such as hosting webinars.

After I chose that word picture, I wrote a vision statement: That God would do an abundant work in my family and me spiritually, professionally, financially, emotionally, educationally, and personally.

Then I wrote some goals based on that mission, including in my business.

Since writing this mission statement, I am experiencing a new burst of creativity, a deeper level of vision, and a burst of productivity like never before. I have laser focus to get my work done and I also have a new wisdom which allows me to protect my time. That means the wisdom of saying no to projects that don’t fit within my mission.

Here are the simple steps:

1) Set aside some time to pray;

2) Select a word picture from a verse that you want the year to be about;

3) Write your mission statement;

4) Write your vision statement;

5) Write your business goals as well as your personal, emotional, relationship, homeschooling, financial, and home goals;

6) Now make this a habit for everyday and you will be experiencing new heights in your life in no time at all!

Want a convenient, inspiring way to set these goals on a handy, beautiful form? Purchase my step by step guide on how to make a Yearly Blessing Plan. You will reach new heights in your life, business, and beyond!

Branding in Marketing – Step 1 to Make Your Brand Marketing Soar Above the Competition

In this Internet age, branding in marketing is absolutely essential. It’s not just for big corporations anymore.

Think about this: At best, you have 30 seconds to get your prospect to click on your image. First impressions are everything!

So is your brand attracting the kind of attention you want? Or does your brand leave your traffic snoozing because it looks indistinguishable from every other brand out there?

If your brand is less than exciting, don’t worry. Over my next several posts, I’m going to share with you five steps that will help your company brand soar above the competition.

5 Steps to Make Your Brand Marketing Soar Above the Competition

Step 1) Make sure your brand represents the essence of who you are.

Your brand should accurately reflect your company’s reason for existence. Call this your mission, your vision, your Unique Selling Proposition.

Whatever you call it, the more clarity you have on why you are in business, the more your brand will accurately portray the essence of who you are as a company.

The result? You will increase your name recognition and brand awareness. If who you are is reflected accurately in your business image, your prospects will be naturally attracted to your brand and ultimately the products or services you are offering, which will increase your bottom line. Further, congruence between image and essence translates to customer trust and loyalty.

In other words, your brand delivers what you promise. When your brand does not accurately reflect your business, your prospects may feel jipped. Like you overpromised and underdelivered. You do not want your brand reflecting this bad business modus operandi!

Relationship marketing is the new wave of business. Social media makes this more relevant than ever. Don’t be left behind in the dust. Learn how to be authentic and you will soar above your competition!

Keep checking back for the next four steps! Better yet, subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss anything!

Build Brand Recognition through Custom Christmas Cards

Now that Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is just around the corner. Have you thought about combining customer appreciation, brand awareness, and Christmas?

They fit together like a glove!

But why should you use valuable time and money to send cards and how do you go about it?

Keep on reading for some ideas that are sure to get your name noticed!

And you can use these ideas for personal use as well as business use, so read on!

1) Design and send Christmas cards because it improves customer retention. Your best customer is your existing customer! When you show that customer appreciation, you are encouraging them to turn into raving fans. That’s what you want! So that when you come up with a new product or service, they will be beating down your doors! A personal card with a unique design will communicate to them that you care. That you took the time to do something unique.

One of my clients (see card above, which I designed), an artist, has been doing Christmas cards for years. The people on her mailing list can’t wait to receive the card because they know it’s going to be something unusual. Now that’s name recognition!

2) Cards in the mail get noticed over email. Really! Think about it. What do you receive in your mailbox? Bills and junk mail, right? A card or letter is precious! The receiver of the card feels valued. E-mails are a dime a dozen and you are competing with many other e-mails. A spectacular card with your brand will automatically create name recognition and you will be on your way to creating raving fans!

3) But how can you create a spectacular card? With a scanner, some fabric, ribbon, and an original picture, you will have an unbeatable combination.

* Choose some fabric and ribbon, about letter page size. Make sure it’s not licensed!
* Scan it into computer at at least 300 dpi.
* Select an original piece of artwork, a photograph or painting. Scan it at 300 dpi.
* Layer the pieces together–use the fabric as a background, the ribbon as a frame, and the artwork as your centerpiece.
* Put your logo on the back with your address and website
* Include a personal greeting that complements your artwork

.4) Make your cards affordable by printing them through an online source. Overnightprints.com is my favorite source, and I have found them to be most cost-effective. They do great full-color work although the paper choice is limited. If you sign up for their mailing list, you will get great deals! Their cards come with white envelopes and they even have a mailing service!

5) If you want to choose semi-custom designs, Overnightprints.com has them available, or try Zazzle.com or CafePress.com. I plan to have some of my cards on these sites and will let you know as soon as I do!

6) If this sounds like too much work, hire a professional! I have been designing Christmas cards for years and would be glad to help you! But hurry, Christmas is around the corner and my schedule is already hectically busy! Just email me at info@angelarts.biz for more info.

Want more information on how to create your own Christmas cards? Introducing my new special report on 17 Steps to Creating Razzling Dazzling Christmas Cards!
