This week brought yet again some grim news from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), predicting another slow-down of the economy if the looming Taxmageddon is not fixed.

So with all this grim news and the coming election, what will our future look like? The future of our children? Of our grandchildren?

It is undeniable that we live in uncertain times. That is an unpleasant reality we all face. Unemployment is rampant, our freedoms are under attack, and society is undergoing a rapid moral decay while our government spends itself into oblivion, leaving a huge debt burden for us and our children.

In every American generation before us, parents worked hard so their children could have a better life. But the fact is, we are not that upwardly mobile society anymore.

Add to that, our choices are being taken away and government is seeking to intrude into every part of our lives, truly from the cradle to the grave. We are growing into a European Socialist country where high taxes to redistribute wealth and fund endless entitlement programs are a way of life. And demonizing the successful is the drumbeat of the day.

If you think it’s great that we’re becoming like Europe, think about this: Europe is recognizing that this entitlement society is bankrupting them. The markets overseas are very unstable and unemployment is extremely high, especially in Spain. Greece is going bankrupt and there have been riots there because of austerity measures. The unlimited benefits is unsustainable and now the CBO tells us that we are heading toward that same fiscal cliff.

Yes, we have an election coming up and I am fervently praying that this ship will be turned around. I am certainly not alone in this effort. That the great ideals America was founded on will be rekindled.

But what if it’s not? What is in store for us?

I don’t like to dwell on the negative but I need to tell you the reality of what’s going on. Because the truth will set you free. The writing is on the wall and if you are skeptical about what I’m saying, research it for yourself:

If we continue on this path to becoming a Socialist Marxist country and ObamaCare is not repealed, we can expect even higher unemployment, more people dependent on the government, significantly higher taxes for every income bracket, rationing of health care, unbelievable nanny laws when it comes to health, parenting, and the environment, and yes, ultimately death panels.

I know this is scary and no one wants to talk about it and some may even roll their eyes at these dire predictions. I hope I turn out to be wrong, but having been to a former Communist country, I have watched them gain freedom as we lose ours. If I am right, (and it’s not just me who is saying this), then I need to warn you. If you don’t believe me, do your own research. Do not believe anything you hear from the mainstream media! Read Obama’s own book, Dreams of My Fathers and watch D’Nesh D’Sousa’s movie 2016: Obama’s America.

This is the cold hard reality if something is not done to curtail the government’s power grab. Plus, a generation who thinks nothing of aborting 80 million babies will think nothing of euthanizing their elderly when they become a drain on the finite healthcare that will be available.

But these are the figures that I’m hearing on the news: 710,000 jobs will be lost. Ten percent of small businesses will drop health care for employees. Some religious organizations will implement civil disobedience because their rights are being trampled. In fact, many churches have banned together to sue the government because ObamaCare violates their rights of free speech and freedom to worship.

Also, we are not replacing our birth rate and therefore retiring baby boomers will not have the workers to support them. In fact, the government is outright promoting having less babies, as witnessed yesterday in a speech by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

If we don’t do something soon, Social Security and Medicare will go bankrupt. If ObamaCare survives the election, I heard a figure of up to 80 percent of doctors will quit.

In England where socialized medicine exists in full force, a doctor admitted that 130,000 seniors were killed off for convenience’ sake. Here’s a quote from Alan Sears of Townhall.com:

“In nations where socialized medicine has been in force for some time, the elderly and infirm are being sacrificed (killed) for the comfort of the young and healthy. And with the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold socialized medicine in America via ObamaCare, there is justifiable concern that the elderly and infirm may eventually face the same fate here in America.

And, no, this is not a scare tactic.

To give you some perspective, in the United Kingdom alone, upwards of 130,000 elderly patients were quietly led to a faster death last year through the Liverpool Care Pathway—an avenue to death that has come to be known as the “death pathway.” This pathway can include the “withdrawal of treatment—including the provision of water and nourishment by tube—and on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours.”

According to Professor Patrick Pullicino, a National Health Service consultant, thousands of these persons were killed not because they were at death’s door, but “because they [were] difficult to manage or to free up beds.””

Okay, so I know I have laid out some scary scenarios and grim outlook. The future looks dim and bleak. Believe me, I felt this way when I recently heard this prediction when my husband and I attended a homeschooling family economy conference where Kevin Swanson of Generations Radio spoke about the future of America. While I don’t agree with all of his views, what he was saying made sense if this administration gets a second term. I am actually thankful I heard this talk, which happened to be the morning of the massacre at Theatre 9 for the premiere of Dark Knight Rising. We know our society is sick and America is dying!

If all this is true, what can we do?

Wake up! Wake up, America! I think of the line in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Return of the King when the Hobbits found their beloved Shire infiltrated by the evil of Saruman: “Awake! Fear! Fire! Foes! Awake!”
But how? And why on earth am I saying all this to you on a blog about branding?

Because, as Kevin Swanson of Generations Radio shared in the conference we attended, we need to find islands of freedom. At the same time government is trying to centralize all aspects of human life, a massive shift of decentralization is going on in key areas of American life. One of those islands of freedom is self-employment. With the advent of the Internet, it is actually a very exciting time to start a small business! In fact, I would say that it is imperative!
And this requires an effective brand image and brand message.

Knowing your why, having a vision for the future, and a reason to fight for success is a stellar recipe for creating a solid business that you can pass on as a legacy to your family.
